Let's Go Bib-less Now, Everybody Bib-less Now, Come On Go Bib-less With Me!

My son hit 18 months and he decided that he no longer wants to wear a bib.

He is a big boy now; which means he has evolved past the bib. This makes for a huge mess after each meal he consumes.

But he doesn't care. Nothing or no one with make him don a bib. My mom even tried to put a dish cloth around his neck to prevent spillage; but he ripped it off of himself hastily and continued devouring his oatmeal.

The lack of bib bothers me. It means I have to do twice as much laundry and I end up having to rinse out his clothes after every meal. But he is content to have food all over himself.

  1. Try taking off his shirt and leaving him topless? then just wipe him down with a wet wash cloth or something.

  2. Yeah! That's a good one. I just worry about him eating with no shirt on in this house because it is so drafty. But I think this is a good solution. Thanks Elisheva!

  6. Ok, I know this is a really old post and you have probably moved past this problem. I guess you could file this away for next time or to offer as advice to your mommy friends. I had the same problem with my daughter and my solution was a "special" meal time shirt. I went to a thrift shop (I knew we were going to need multiples. $.25 per shirt!)and let her pick out any shirt she wanted. I made sure that it was a size to big for her but not too loose around the neck. The bigger size made it easy to slip on over her everyday clothes and she LOVES that she gets to wear a special shirt for meals only. She now has a different shirt for each day. We still use this method and she is 3 years old!
