The other day, I wrote a post about
my son Ari's love for My Little Pony. Before I knew it, the post had gone viral! I wrote to
Hasbro and sent them the post. Kristin from the P.R. department was gracious enough to send Ari over some awesome My Little Pony toys.
Thank you so much to the wonderful people at Hasbro for making my son's day. He is so excited to play with his new My Little Pony toys.
Equestria Girls? Eh, that is at best a divisive subject. Most of us, when it was first announced, thought "this is going to suck!" In my opinion, as far as school days dramas and all the accompanying cliches go, it turned out better than expected and is entertaining enough to kill a few hours of boredom on a rainy day, not unlike G3 ponies.
ReplyDeleteBut it could have been so much more.

A EqG doll is nice and all but I really wish they didn't use the brats mold when making making them and made them look more like they did in the movie. Also, Whoo go Ari!
ReplyDeleteChronologically, it comes right after the end of Season 3 (Vol. 5 on iTunes). Be sure to have watched up to then if spoilers are important.
ReplyDeleteOOOOh okay!
ReplyDeleteIs nice to see that Hasbro cares for the young... and really awesome day for your son. Glad to know went parents do their work well. Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteI liked EqG, personally. I didn't really think Daniel Ingram did anything near his best work, but overall it was still really good. Got to see Sweetie Belle do the robot, and Scootaloo dance the funky chicken.. Yeah, it was good times for sure :)
ReplyDeleteA+ job Hasbro! Keep it coming! 29 year old male fan for life right here.
I know what you're trying to say, but Hasbro doesn't have the "Bratz" molds - those are made by Mattel, their competitor, and likely one of the main reasons that Equestria Girls was started in the first place. That and something to counter Monster High.
ReplyDeleteThe robot? Sweetie did the Tsukasa Dance.
ReplyDeleteBratz are actually made by MGA entertainment. Mattel currently holds the rights to Barbie and Monster High, they have NEVER owned the rights to Bratz. If I remember rightly, My Scene were made by Mattel to compete with Bratz, and MGA flipped their lids and tried to sue Mattel or something. EQG were created to compete with Monster High.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I made a small mistake. My point was that the EqG dolls don't use the Bratz mold, and that Hasbro has nothing to do with Bratz.
ReplyDeleteI love this exchange! Funny and informative. There are more layers in the doll wars than I was aware of. 8^) Thank you!
ReplyDelete/) : ) Same here bud 22 year old. The movie was fun for all ages.
ReplyDeleteThat's so awesome and so heartwarming!~ /) *Brohoof* (And Rainbow Dash is my most favorite pony of the show as well, she's so awesome!!) ;)
ReplyDeleteUpdate! Ari watched the EQg movie and he liked it!
ReplyDeleteHopefully he doesn't get it in his head that actual highschool is anything like that. I admit that it's been ages since high school for me and undoubtedly much has changed, but I very much doubt that a cheerleading song and dance number in the cafeteria can unite the cliques and inspire school spirit and not make half the student body loath the place even more. Even with cute tail and ear costumes.
ReplyDeleteBut I digress, EqG is a more accurate portrayal of highschool than a lot of the ridiculous stuff that's been produced. Saved by the Bell and High School Musical and the like. Not that that's a big accomplishment. Ranma 1/2 is more accurate than that ludicrous nonsense. Personally, Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh remain my favorites.

Speaking of Ranma, I wonder if Cathy Weseluck can still do the Shampoo voice. Amazing how she can pull both such high pitch AND Spike's husky boy voice.
ReplyDeleteI love Ranma 1/2! And I agree, most high school shows are nonsense.
ReplyDeleteOf course, as a discrete math and computer science guy, I adore the Tachikomas. I really want one for a pet I can discuss Hofstadter with.
